The basics about our skin and the products we use

This blog today will be about a demo that we do at our spa parties (demonstration and information sessions)

We begin with a quick lesson on some information about our skin and the products we use that can either help or damage our skin.

This is Litmus paper, also known as pH paper, it is used to measure the acidity levels of any item, simply add water to it, hold the paper onto the material and the paper will change color according to the pH level of that material.

In this picture, the pH paper we use is based on the following:
- The more yellow it is, the more acidic it will be
- The more purple it is, the more basic it will be

Our skin, as you can see in the following picture is actually ACIDIC (yellow)!

The products that everyday people use (not everyone may use these products, but these are some commonly known brands: Clinique, laundry soap, Johnson & Johnson (baby soap), Irish Springs) are in fact BASIC (purple):

Now what happens when acid and base come together?
For those who did not take chemistry, simply that they will try to neutralize each other!!

You may be thinking well what is wrong with that?
If you think about our skin becoming neutral, we will be losing the acidic protective layer that protects us from everyday free radicals (other germs, virus, pollution, sickness, sunlight, and etc.). Our skin becomes sensitive and agitated easily (sometimes people get red rashes). Without this protective layer against the outside elements, we become targets of becoming sick or unhealthy.

But okay, who really uses bar soaps nowadays, its all about lotions, face creams and liquid type products.

We tested a few products that claimed to help whiten and tighten your skin and make you look younger.

Hmmm purple again, the effect may take place but the problem is that it is damaging your skin and harming your body, making it age faster due to being an easy target to free radicals!!

Nu Skin's products are acidic :) they have done the research and knows what is best to gain the effects that we want using natural ingredients AND helping our skin protect us from free radicals, thus reducing the aging process!!

We used iodine, which is an oxidizing agent that acts similarly to the skin. If you think about cutting an apple in half and leave it out in the open for a few minutes, it will turn brown, it has oxidized and simply, it has turned OLD.

As you can see, we mixed each product in with the iodine. Iodine is naturally light see through brown in color. Nu Skin's product has lots of anti-oxidants in their products which turned the iodine white, which help fight against free radicals and gives us that youthful look and helps reduce the signs of aging. The other competitor product turned completely black!! In the long run, you may have seen some results, but your skin has aged a lot in the process!

You may now be thinking: OH NO MY SKIN!! maybe you should test the products you are using and think about changing it...

We then poured the white Nu Skin mixture into the black mixture and guess what?!

You can STILL save your skin!! Start using products that are filled with ANTI-OXIDANTS and has an ACIDIC pH reading that is close to our skin levels!!

So the next time you see a commercial, or plan to buy more items that you use on your skin... I highly suggest you to go get some pH paper and iodine and test those products to see if they are good for your skin!!

Nu Skin has a lot of great products, the research has been done and proven to help fight signs of aging!!

I hope this post has enlightened you a bit on how to choose future products and fight signs of aging!!
